Avenue for Art - Daniel Randolph by Brian Behrens
Daniel Randolph sees just as much colorful fun in Southern California as he does in the street scenes of Paris, London, San Francisco, and New York City. He has lived and worked in Southern California for many years. It’s color, character and characters, natural beauty and history have become his way of life and subject matter of his artwork.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, Daniel is primarily a self-taught artist who has made a name for himself doing whimsical landscape and cityscape travel posters of major European and American scenes. His delightful watercolor paintings and drawings were picked up by Pier 1 Import stores and distributed through the national chain.
His work may also be found in fine art galleries and museums. A painting by Randolph adorns the walls of the White house and his paintings hang in other homes and buildings of note worldwide.
Randolph has illustrated two books, “Joy of Birding” and “Trails of California.” He spent time as an art student at the Santa Barbara Art Institute and also enjoyed studying art at art institutions in Europe where he traveled and painted extensively.
Randolph works from his studio and in the “plein aire” tradition while continuing to put a playful and whimsical spin on local scenes and characters.
